simplicity means a loss of conveniences, May 19, 2012 By This review is from: Oreck Xl Propower PlusTM Vacuum System with Ultimate Handheld Vac This vacuum is by far the simplest I have ever used, I think the manual only listed 13 parts on the upright. So if you are wondering why these are used in hotels and such, it is because they are simple and reliable. The upright does not have a filter, it does not have a height adjustment, and it has no hose attachment. This is good because there is less to break, and fewer failure points; in the unlikely case that a major component fails it is easy to fix as well. I was looking at a dyson in the store and while trying to release it from the upright position I managed to release some piece of plastic that did God knows what; while I consider myself fairly handy, I could no for the life of get the piece back on properly, I saw this as sign of things to come and went with a vacuum that a trained chimp could assemble, no offense to the Americans who assembled my unit. This lack of complexity also means some inconvenience, the lack of hose for attachments is a downright pain. The canister... Read more
